Making Music Fun!
In over 25 years of teaching I’ve found that everyone learns in different ways and at different rates of progress, so I tailor lessons for each student individually. Getting to know my students in the first few lessons and understanding their learning styles is an essential part of how I determine the best teaching approach for them. From the very first lesson I try to create a relaxed setting so students feel no apprehension, especially when trying something new. This allows them to feel free to take chances, knowing that playing music is something to be enjoyed, not a life or death situation! Without fear of mistakes, I'm able to provide increasingly difficult material in a way that allows my students to have a series of successes which builds their confidence to the point where they no longer see certain material as difficult, just unfamiliar. The biggest measure of my effectiveness as a teacher is when my students eagerly embrace new challenges and the opportunity to improve.
I can show you how to practice efficiently and effectively so you can be playing the music you want to play as quickly as possible. I'm currently offering lessons for piano, organ, keyboard, guitar, ukulele and music software. I teach students all ages and skill levels, and have extensive experience teaching children.
Musical styles covered includes rock, pop, classical, jazz, and blues. Instruction in music theory, composition and improvisation is also available.
